Family Running the Business

Old Leckie Farm is run by Alison and Fergus with the help of their three young children, Fergus’ mother, and their good friend Struan.

Size

300 acres.

Farming Enterprise

The enterprise at Old Leckie is home to 400 Texel/ Llyen sheep, a herd of 60 Limousin cattle, native Highland cattle, 600 free range hens and some Tamworth X pigs.

Agritourism Business

Alison and Fergus have developed a number of diversification projects at Old Leckie including:

• Direct sales of meat in 10kg boxes, or bought individually from their on farm freezer;
• Free range eggs, fresh mixed salad leaf and potatoes.

If you live nearby Old Leckie, the family offer a weekly delivery service or customers can pick up produce direct from the farm or through a range of local retailers.

The family also have self catering accommodation, which can sleep up to six adults and offer on farm experience tours to guests and members of the public.

Length of Time Farming

The Younger family have been farming at Old Leckie Farm since 1906.

Length of Time in Tourism

The family started to diversify into Agritourism six years ago.

• Increase the number of group tour bookings;
• Finish the new two bed Bothy and extend the accommodation offering at Old Leckie.
