Cairns Farm – Satellite Monitor Farm

Our Family

Cairns Farm is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Graham and Caroline Hamilton. The farm has been in the Hamilton family since 1869. Graham currently manages the farm and is responsible for all shepherding, as well as estate management, grass cutting, and building maintenance and repairs. Caroline runs the farm office, manages the events company, and takes care of whatever the day may throw at her.

Graham and Caroline have three adult children: Alistair, a joiner and builder who lives locally and project-managed the event space conversion; Bobby, who works in finance in London; and Jo, who also lives in London and works as an interior designer. Jo was responsible for all the interiors of the venue, cabins, and farmhouse.

Our Location

Cairns Farm is located in picturesque West Lothian, just 10 miles from the outskirts of Edinburgh. Its proximity to Scotland’s capital city offers excellent opportunities, with a large potential customer base nearby.

The estate sits on the edge of the Pentland Hills Regional Park and has access to the beautiful Harperrig Reservoir.

Cairns Farm is situated within the Scottish Enterprise area.

Agritourism

Cairns Farm began as an exclusive-use venue in May 2011 when Graham and Caroline converted an old sheep shed into a wedding and events venue, complete with a kitchen, toilets, ceremony room, bar, and party room.

Graham and Caroline also converted their home and farmhouse into accommodation for wedding guests and built six brand-new cabins available for holiday rentals. In total, Cairns Farm can accommodate 24 guests across all accommodations.

Our Farm

Cairns Farm spans over 1000 acres in the lovely Pentland Hills. The farm proudly cares for over 400 Scottish Blackface ewes, friendly alpacas, Highland cattle, and rescue hens.
