Duffus Estate Expands Agritourism with New Camping Facilities

Duffus Estate, a Core Community Member of Scotland’s Agritourism Monitor Farm Programme, has completed its latest investment with the launch of Duffus Estate Camping. This new campsite expands the estate’s extensive agritourism portfolio, which also includes six self-catering holiday lets. The official opening took place on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Duffus Estate Camping: Agritourism Investment in Moray

Set within the beautiful grounds of Duffus House, the site offers a tranquil escape that reflects the Estate’s twelve-generation legacy of sustainable land use, responsible tourism, and strong local ties.

Blending rustic charm with modern convenience, Duffus Estate Camping features:

  • 30 level grass tent pitches within a sheltered walled garden, where original fruit trees still grow, plus a covered area for food prep and seating in the remains of a former greenhouse.

  • 20 touring pitches along a large field with open southerly views, each with its own power and water.

  • Purpose-built shower and toilet blocks, including a fully accessible WC and shower, a covered pot-wash area, drive-over grey water drainage, and a chemical disposal point.

  • The Koffie Box—a converted horsebox coffee trailer—serving barista coffee along with sweet and savoury treats.

Owner, Ed Dunbar, said of the opening: “Our aim has always been to foster a deep appreciation for the land and its heritage. This campsite allows us to invite guests to explore Moray, discover hidden gems, and create lasting memories on our cherished estate.”

Duffus Estate Camping

Duffus Estate’s ongoing agritourism investment, supported by Scotland’s Agritourism Monitor Farm Programme, creates expanded accommodation options, improving visitor experience by expanding access to the estate’s outdoor and heritage attractions: 18 acres of woodland, 26 acres of grass paths, and a range of outdoor activities, including a grass tennis court, and improved access to historic sites like St Peter’s Kirk and Duffus Castle.
This strategic approach demonstrates how investing in high-quality agritourism infrastructure can deliver both exceptional visitor experiences and strong economic returns.

Agritourism Investment and Local Economic Impact

Duffus Estate’s investment in agritourism helps attract more visitors to the wider Moray region, connecting guests with local attractions such as Hopeman’s beaches, play areas, and dining, all accessible via cycle paths.

Local wellness experiences, including mobile saunas, and a wealth of outdoor activities, such as swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, cycling, golfing, and exploring sites like Roseisle, Lossie Woods, the Cairngorms, and whisky distilleries, are all more accessible thanks to the estate’s continued development, supported by Scotland’s Agritourism Monitor Farm Programme.
